11/22/63: A Novel

11/22/63 - Stephen King Good ONE ! :)

Ice Bird: The Classic Story of the First Single-Handed Voyage to Antarctica

Ice Bird: The Classic Story of the First Single-Handed Voyage to Antarctica - David Lewis If you enjoy sailing this book is perfect for you. As I started reading it I just couldn't put id down. It's a story of a struggle of a man who was left alone in an extremely difficult situation- alone, in the broken boat, with no radio or engine going. All that he was left with was his strong will and eagerness to complete his race, ale save his own life. A real high adventure story!!

Touching the Void: The True Story of One Man's Miraculous Survival

Touching the Void: The True Story of One Man's Miraculous Survival - Joe Simpson Great story. Two friends goes for an excursion. Unfortunately one of them gets injured, his friend tries to get him down from the mountain but then he's forced to cut his friend off in order to save his own life. The the struggle begins, of both of them. Really good, well written. It is a monument of human's strong will and eagerness to survive no matter what happens. We learn where lies human boundary of stamina, strength and inner toughness. Perfect book for everyone who likes strong emotions and interesting real stories.

The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer

The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer - Philip Carlo The book is quite good, it tells story of a serial killer with the nickname Iceman. It gives huge amount of information, interesting pieces of new perspective, quite strong and fast-paced, in some moments. However, it is also a little bit repetitive, many thoughts, descriptions or emotions (rather lack of emotions) are repeated as if the reader could forget what he has read recently. Quite good but not excellent.

Panic in Level 4: Cannibals, Killer Viruses, and Other Journeys to the Edge of Science

Panic in Level 4: Cannibals, Killer Viruses, and Other Journeys to the Edge of Science - Richard Preston I liked it a lot. The short articles are good ideas in this kind of writing. The author is one my my favorite, I like his style, interesting topics (where does he take them from??) and many good and reliable sources. Those are extremely important in the non-fiction book. The book at the same time is not boring; it is informative but not excessively. Preston has got great style and goes soft with quite serious topics. very readable, I recommend it even to those who aren't interested in scientific issues.

The Darkest Room: A Novel

The Darkest Room (The Öland Quartet #2) - Johan Theorin Scandinavian literature is getting more and more popular. It's not a surprise if they write such good books like "The Darkest Room". The book tells a story of a family who moved on an island which is supposedly haunted by spirits of people who died there. This bad emotions of the island have a direct influence on our main character, his wife dies. Joakim, however, cannot deal with this situation and along with Tilda, the cop, search for the answers. Those two are also the ones who are very deeply presented. The story is vivid, mysterious with some supernatural powers occurring from time to time. the book is excellent because it combines different book types, from ghost story, police reports, mystery and drama. This compilation is really unique and the outcome is great, The author is extremely popular in US, I'm really not surprised. The highest recommendation!

Surviving the Extremes: What Happens to the Body and Mind at the Limits of Human Endurance

Surviving the Extremes: What Happens to the Body and Mind at the Limits of Human Endurance - Kenneth Kamler I liked it a lot! It's a set of medical knowledge and experience from numerous excursions put in one book. but look out!! You may get itchy feet too :) Well, after reading this i started to think where should i go first, however, some stories are rally harsh. The book keeps you in tension. Definitely my booklike!

The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism

The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism - Naomi Klein I'm not a political junkie so maybe that's why i haven't found this book particularly interesting. A lot of analysis and info that are completely unnecessary for me. However, I get it that it can be useful for someone interested in this topic, it gives some comprehensible insight into the topic. 2 stars from me.

The Lies of Saints (Nick Barrett Mystery Series #3)

The Lies of Saints - Sigmund Brouwer It's quite strong thriller, with an investigating plot with many subplots which ultimately bond with each other. If you like mystery books the most this one is definitely for you.
